Mid Year Plans

I have been thinking a lot about what I am planning to present for mid year and what I want the installation is going to look like. Here are my thoughts:

Painting the wall black. I plan to exhibit on a single wall which I will paint black.

Why black?

1. I want to push against the standard white wall format as I believe it creates a clinical feel, which has an impact on the feeling of an artwork. I at least correlate white walls with hospitals, offices and spaces where there are stiff protocol, which is not the vibe I want people to be in while looking at my work.

2. White reflects everything and black reflects nothing to over simplify how ,(I understand), light works. I guess what I want its for the wall surrounding my work to be empty. I think black looks emptier than white

I want to display only a few of my works.

Why only a few?

1. I think I can communicate more clearly the emotion of what I paint with less works, as the more I hang, the more information I am giving the viewer and I want to avoid confusing things.

2. I only want to display works which I feel are of a similar theme to help the installation feel cohesive.

I want the works to be evenly spaced out.

Why?

1. I want the works to have the chance to be equally evaluated, without any push to see them as a story.

For the hang I plan to nail wooden supports to the back to hang the works off. This will give the works space between them and the wall, which I hope will add to the illusion of emptiness behind the works.

Cold hands, warm heart.
